ROMEO AND JULIET ACT 1 SCENE 2

Characters: Capulet, Paris, Servant, Benvolio and Romeo

Setting: somewhere on a street in verona.

Quote: ” Ill go along no such sight to be shown, but to rejoice in splendor of my own”

———-SCENE SUMMARY———-

Paris asks Capulet (Juliet’s dad) for permission to marry his daughter Juliet. Capulet says NO as he believes Juliet is too young at only 13 years of age and tells Paris he must get Juliet to like him first.

He gives a list of invites to a party, to a servant who  he doesnt know cant read or write.

The servant encounters Romeo and Benvolio on the street and aks them to read the list of invites for her not knowing they are Montagues, he invites them to the party.

Benvolio thinks this will be a great chance for Romeo to fall in love with someone new and get over Rosaline. But Romeo agrees to go only because Roseline will be there.
